How to Record Desktop Screen or Screencast with YouTube

#1. Sign-in to YouTube with your Google Account, click the Upload button in the upper left corner and choose Events under Live Streaming.

Note : If you're using this feature first time, YouTube will ask you to verify your phone number to enable Live Streaming on your YouTube Account.

#2. You're on the Create Event page, fill the details like Screencast video Title, Privacy of the video to either "Unlisted" or "Private" and click the "Go Live Now" button.

#3.  You'll see a Hangouts on Air page, On this Google Hangouts page click on the camera icon to turn off webcam recording and microphone, if don't wish to record audio.

#4. Click the Screenshare button in the left toolbox and select a desktop window that you wish to record for your screencast.

Note : If you're using multiple virtual desktops, it will only show program windows that are active on the current desktop.

#5. Click the Start Screenshare button to share your screen and then click Start Broadcast to start recording the screen. 

Note : Make sure that you're doing this process in private or unlisted mode so nobody can watch your broadcast while it is being recorded.

#6. Go to your YouTube video dashboard to find new screencast video that you've just finished recording.
