If you're looking to free up some space by deleting old messages, following a couple of tips will help you remove old emails in no time.

How to clean All Read Email

Login into your Gmail account and click in the search box.
Type in:inbox is:read and click the blue search mail button. You'll now see a few of the most recent emails you have actually read.
Find the checkbox button at the top left of the results and tap to "All" to select all the emails that match your search. All the emails on the page will be checked and highlighted.
Click the link at the top of the list that says, "Select all conversations that match this search". Now you have two option, either you can delete the selected emails or archive it.  
    Note : You can also delete all the unread emails by the same process, just type in:inbox is:unread.

    How to delete all Emails

    Deleting all your emails in Gmail is simple, Login into Gmail account and select the tab you want to clear out(Primary, Promotions or Social). Tap on the small box in the top left corner just above the compose button to select all emails. If you have more than 50 emails then you'll need to click "Select all the conversations" and click on delete button. Its done.


    How to clean Emails older than a certain date

    Login into Gmail account and type date in a YYYY/DD/MM format to filter out emails in search bar. If you type before:2013/09/05, you'll see a list of all the emails you received prior to Sep. 5, 2013. You can also search by emails older than years, type older_than:2y, you can use m for months or d for days as well. To delete them all, click the Check all box, then click "Select all conversation that match this search" followed by delete button.
